The Wisconsin Elections Commission (WEC) is charged with working with municipal and county clerks throughout the State of Wisconsin to administer elections at the local level. The WEC maintains the WisVote Elections system which is used as the primary program in administering elections throughout Wisconsin. WisVote uses GIS tools to assign voters to the correct districts, which requires updated and accurate district boundary and address locations. WEC works with county and municipal clerks as well as LIOs and GIS staff to ensure WisVote has the best possible GIS data for election administration purposes. Accurately assigning electors to election districts is necessary to ensure that they will vote at the correct polling place and receive ballots listing the correct offices and candidates, especially following redistricting or adjustments to municipal boundaries.
